Teamwork and Communication

Collaboration. Teamwork. Open communication. Transparency. Sounds great, but for many can feel weird. Take a look at some of the ways we’ve helped make building teams and improving communication fit a little better for some of our clients.

Rush University Medical Center

Setting the Stage: Rush University Medical Center, a teaching hospital, was celebrating Collaboration as part of a larger celebration of their corporate values. Each employee is expected to go beyond supporting each other’s efforts to support Rush, and to seek out strategic relationships that promote a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Easier said than done. Stress brought on by difficult patients and their families, and the stresses brought on by tightening health care standards were getting in the way of true collaboration. They lacked the ability to have an open dialogue about the challenges they face day to day without alienating, well, everyone.

Zurich Insurance

Setting the Stage Zurich North America, the global property & casualty insurance company, holds an annual meeting of its top North American leaders. In 2009, this program was to be held in Chicago, and it was an opportunity for the central region to provide a learning experience unique to a Chicago meeting. As with any large organization, these executives manage large territories and many people, and are always looking to share best practices with one another. In addition, they do much of their work with each other by phone and email, so this yearly meeting is an opportunity to truly collaborate face-to-face with other leaders of this organization.
