Creative Development

In this full-day creative session, the Second City Communications creative team leads a brainstorming, ideation and creation experience to generate fresh comedy, insight and content for your company.

The Creative Development Experience is customized to the messaging, goals and intended audience of the project. At the same time, the fundamental building blocks remain the same – a team of experienced writers, improvisers and creative directors working collaboratively with you to create exciting content.

Example Day

Your team is welcomed to our Second City facility to work through the improv idea generation process. It’s recommended that we focus on a single topic throughout the one day session. Below is an example day:

Setting the Stage

Your company’s creative team meets with an SCC producer, writer, and director to debrief on the challenges, product, existing ideas and objectives of the campaign. This initial brainstorming includes recording key phrases, words and locations which will later be used to tee-up and inspire our improvisers in the second part of the session.

Co-Creation Session

In the Second City e.t.c. or Mainstage theatre, your company’s creative team watches as the Second City’s improvisers use the words and phrases generated in the morning session to build new ideas, concepts, and provide new insights through interaction and improvised story-telling. This session is videotaped to capture every idea and moment for later reference and refinement.

Refinement and Filtering

Working with your company and the SCC team, the improvers will heighten and tighten the ideas and scenarios they created on stage, and feedback is given on what is working or requires further development. This session is video taped to capture every idea and moment for later reference and refinement.

Delivery of Five Key Concepts

In approximately five business days a Master DVD is ready for viewing, which includes the afternoon sessions, chaptered and in chronological order. In addition to the DVD, an outline with Second City Communication’s recommendations on which concepts are the strongest, and suggestions on implementation are included. We then invite you to meet with us again and discuss how Second City Communications can help you execute a creative plan or campaign based on these ideas.
